TEMPORARY RESTRAINING ORDER

A TRO; an order of the court which temporarily restricts a person from being within a certain distance from another person and may also prohibit other actions so as to ensure the safety of the person taking out the protective order. It is a common device used for protection involving domestic violence issues and is designed to prevent further mental, physical, verbal or other abuse.
