Hebrew word meaning the teaching and referring to the oral Torah or the codified texts that make up the Jewish Rabbinic commentary on the Torah or Old Testament. It consists of the Mishnah and Gemara, which documents the disputes of Jewish law between Rabbinical scholars and how they were resolved. It was codified and completed circa 500 CE.
