(A) practice. A writ or process of the same kind as the subpoena ad testificandum, including a clause requiring the witness to bring with him and produce to the court, books, papers, in his hands, tending to elucidate the matter in issue. (B) A special subpoena requested by a party to have the court to order a witness to produce certain documents at a deposition or trial. When the party wishes that the adverse party produce documents, it is called a Request for Production of Documents.
