Having a right to file a lawsuit. Only a person or party that has actually been injured and has a cause of action can file a lawsuit. For example, a women’s rights group cannot file a claim against one who has discriminated against women at a large corporation; only the victim, a woman who has actually suffered an injury as a result of the discrimination has standing to file a lawsuit to recover damages.
