RACIAL PROFILING

A practice to target individuals of a certain race for enforcement rather than on the grounds of actual suspicion. Frequently used in reference to law enforcement, sometimes in civil lawsuits regarding establishments that may stop certain ethnicities for questioning, search or investigation of potential wrongdoing such as shoplifting solely based upon race rather than through observation or evidence.
