TheLaw.com Law Dictionary & Black's Law Dictionary 2nd Ed.

Latin term meaning for one’s self and used in some states to refer to a person who handles or litigates their own case. Other states use the term pro se. Laypersons (non-lawyers) who file legal papes are expected to include the term in pro per at the bottom of the heading on the front page of their papers.
