PAYMENT INTO COURT

Where a party pays money into court and is held by the court until it is determined who should be distributed the money or part of the money. Frequently this occurs in landlord-tenant court where a tenant may need to deposit rent with the court pending an eviction proceeding in order to avoid eviction for non-payment.
