MARITAL COMMUNICATIONS PRIVILEGE

As per the laws of evidence, the communications between a husband and wife are confidential and inadmissible in court so as to protect the sanctity of marriage. If a husband or wife could be called to testify for such statements, then trust would be lost as any communications made between a husband or wife in private might later be used against them.
