A witness that you call to testify and should, on the surface, be friendly and helpful to you. As such, they must answer questions completely without any inferences or leading questions and you may not cross-examine. If the witness seems to be adverse to your case and non-cooperative, you may request that the judge to declare the witness a hostile witness which would enable you to cross-examine the witness and use leading questions.
