ENTITY

A unit that has a recognition, such as an organization, institution or corporation that has an existence for legal or tax purposes. The entity is separate from the persons that own the entity (shareholders) and the entity may be legally bound to contracts by its agents (such as employees, officers of a corporation and its board of directors.)
