CLEANING FEE

TheLaw.com Law Dictionary & Black's Law Dictionary 2nd Ed.

Landlord-Tenant a nonrefundable fee charged by a landlord to clean and make the rented premises ready for use prior to the tenant moving in. This fee may be charged by a landlord even if the premises was left in perfect condition. Some states have made these fees illegal but many states are silent on this issue. The fee is usually used when needed (and justified) and is taken from the security deposit of the tenant.
