TEMPORARY RESTRAINING ORDER (TRO)

An order requiring another person to stop doing something, for example, it demands that a husband stop harassing or harming his wife. The TRO is issued after the victimized party appears before a judge and pleads his or her case. After the issuance of a TRO, the court holds another hearing where the accused can testify as to his or her side of the matter and the judge can decide whether a TRO should become a permanent restraining order.
