STATUS CONFERENCE

A meeting of the judge and lawyers in a case to discuss the progress made in the case and what can be expected moving forward. The judge may ask where the discovery process is at present, what has been conducted and what is outstanding, whether the parties have attempted to settle the case, depositions and other pretrial issues. The status conference may also be the place where dates are scheduled for further discovery, other pretrial motions and the setting of a trial date.
