SMALL CLAIMS COURT

A specialized state court that resolves disputes involving smaller sums of money, usually up to a limit of $7,500 and $10,000. The parties appear without lawyers and it is much less formal. Witness testimony is easy to be provided and not subject to the typical rules of evidence, designed to be a simple court for non-lawyers to resolve their disputes. Execution on judgments are in the same fashion as judgments issued in any other civil court and equally as enforceable.
