SELF-INCRIMINATION

When a person makes statements that could expose that person to criminal prosecution, either at present or in the future. The 5th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution prohibits the government from forcing any person to produce evidence that would incriminate that person, such as answering questions that would lead a person to be prosecuted for a crime as a result to their answers being used against them.
