(A) To place a notice in an obvious and conspicuous location so that it is unquestionably seen by the intended recipient, e.g. nailed to the door of the recipient’s home. (B) To mail, the post date is the date a letter is mailed. (C) To record something, e.g. to post an entry to a ledger. (D) To be recorded, e.g. after transferring money, the money posted in the account instantly. (E) Afterward, after an event, e.g. post-mortem.

A conveyance for letters or dispatches. The word is derived from “positi,” the horses carrying the letters or dispatches being kept or placed at fixed stations.
