Dog bite rule that is common in many states where a dog owner who is unaware that a dog has a propensity to bite (e.g. has bitten or attempted to bite a person before and cause injury) is able to have the first bite free and will avoid liability. The injured party in such states must show that the owner of the dog had known that the dog had a propensity to harm and likely to cause injury.
