LONG ARM STATUTE

A law which provides a court in one jurisdiction with the power to have jurisdiction over a person or party who may not be within the jurisdiction but has had sufficient minimum contacts with the jurisdiction to be considered as being under the court’s power and authority. For example, a company located out of state that frequently advertises and does significant business in another state should reasonably foresee that it can and should be hailed into court in the target state.
