Common name for a polygraph test which examines the nature of a person’s physiological responses to a given series of questions and determines whether the person is telling the truth based upon changes in that person’s state that would indicate a nervous state or concern regarding a lie. The reliability of such tests is in great controversy and most states will not admit polygraph tests into evidence in court.
