A common term to describe a vehicle or other consumer good that appears to fail significantly for its purpose soon after purchase. Lemon Law covers defective auto purchases and the defect must be substantial and must occur within a certain time or mileage period, such as one year or within 10,000 miles. There is usually an option of refund or replacement of the vehicle although it may be necessary to use arbitration or court to exercise this option.
