HARMLESS ERROR

An error by a judge made during the course of a trial where an appellate court reviewing the case finds that the error was not sufficiently egregious or damaging to the appealing party’s case that it deprived them of a fair trial and the possibility of a different verdict. A harmless error is one where if the error was not made the outcome of the case would not have changed. See ERROR.
