A settlement agreement by parties to a lawsuit which settles all the outstanding issues and puts an end to the lawsuit. There will usually be clauses with regard to the right to reopen a case based upon certain circumstances, etc. although some are final and binding where there will be mutual releases by each party agreeing that, after this settlement, all further litigation on the issue is barred.
