The right to be given the same protection of law as any other group of people as provided by the 14th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. Should a law be enacted that would seem to discriminate or favor one group of people over another (based upon a protected class such as race, color, religion or creed and gender) there must be a rational basis and compelling state interest to do so. Designed to abolish discriminatory treatment of certain groups of people who have not been provided with the same benefits of law.
