DECISION

A judgment given by a competent tribunal, which may be a judge, arbitrator, government agency or other panel. Sometimes the word decision or opinion may be used in place of a judgment, although the judgment is technically the written court decision and a document that sets out the reasons for the decision. In practice. A judgment or decree pronounced by a court in settlement of a controversy submitted to it and by way of authoritative answer to the questions raised before it Adams v. W. 814.”Decision” is not synonymous with “opinion.” A decision of the court is its judgment ; the opinion is the reasons given’ for that judgment.
