CREDITOR'S CLAIM

A claim of a creditor, usually referring to a claim filed in federal bankruptcy against a debtor that has filed for bankruptcy relief. This may also refer to a written demand for payment, a claim, that is filed in probate court after the person who owed the money has died. State statues set a time limit as to the period of time to make a claim against the estate of a deceased person.
