CONSCIENTIOUS OBJECTOR

A person who refuses to abide by a law due to an inability to agree with the fundamental principal of the action. Typically refers to persons who refuse to answer to a draft to serve in the military upon the strong belief that it is against their being or philosophy to kill other people or engage in acts of war. Refusing to answer a call for a draft into military service is a federal crime and only certain exceptions (religious conviction, depending upon circumstances) are made which will excuse that person’s duty.
