CIVIL CODE

A branch of law which does not consist of criminal law and governs non-criminal behavior. (A) A complete collection of applicable civil laws of a jurisdiction and that has been compiled. In many states, the collection of laws of civil nature are referred to as the civil code. (B) The collection of law comprising of law that is not pertaining to criminal conduct which is covered by the criminal code. Also refers to the French Napoleonic Code that is the law in the state of Louisiana.
