A request made by an immigrant to the judge in removal proceedings to grant permanent residence to the immigrant and cancel the removal proceedings. The immigrant must meet several requirements including having lived in the U.S. for at least 10 years, has extraordinary hardship if forced to leave the U.S. and also shows good moral conduct (no crimes of moral turpitude.)
