AGE OF MAJORITY

The legal age of adulthood when a person is able to perform certain actions such as being able to enter into a binding contract, voting in a general election, creating a valid will and the ability to purchase alcohol. It is also the age when parents are no longer required to make child support payments. The age of majority is 18 in most states but this also varies according to activity, for example, entering into a binding contract can be done at age 18 but purchasing alcohol is limited to persons 21 years of age or older.
