ADTOUTRY

In old English law. Adultery between parties both of whom were married. Hunter v. U. S., 1 Pin. (Wis.) 91, 39 Am. Dec. 277. Or the offense by an adulteress of continuing to live with the man with whom she committed the adultery. Cowell; Termes de la Ley. Sometimes spelled “advowtry.” ADVOWEE, or AVOWEE. The person or patron who has a right to present to a benefice. Fleta, lib. 5, c. 14. Advowee paramount. The sovereign, or highest patron.
