AD HOMINEM

TheLaw.com Law Dictionary & Black's Law Dictionary 2nd Ed.

Latin for to the person or to the man. That which is personal rather than logical, usually referring to an argument. An attack on the person’s character rather than relevant to the issue being argued. Arguments made that result in attacking the person using some irrelevant fact rather than being based in logic.
